PfCCp proteins are expressed during gametocytogenesis. (a) Expression of all six PfCCp proteins appears predominantly in stage II of gametocytogenesis, and protein expression increases during maturation. During gamete formation, protein expression decreases for PfCCp1 through PfCCp3, PfCCp5 and PfFNPA, while PfCCp4 is still present homogenously and is associated with the surface of emerged gametes. PfCCp expression is shown in green (Alexa Fluor 488).
