In trophozoite- and schizont-stage parasites, PfSortilin-HA localized to puncta that were also recognized by antibodies to the Golgi marker ERD2 (Fig. 4C). In ring-stage parasites, PfSortilin-HA could not be detected above non-specific background, even though the Golgi apparatus was present as determined by ERD2 immunolocalization.
