PfEngA and PfObg1 are targeted to the parasite mitochondrion. PfEngA and PfObg1, detected by anti-PfEngA (A) and anti-PfObg1antibodies (B), colocalize with Mitotracker Red (i) and not with the apicoplast marker PfHU detected using anti-PfHUp antibodies (ii). Subcellular localization of PfObg1 by immunofluorescence assays using purified anti-Obg1 antibodies showed the clear overlap of the mitochondrial dye and PfObg1 signal (i). No overlap was seen with the apicoplast marker PfHU (ii)] indicating that PfObg1 localized exclusively to the P. falciparum mitochondrion.
