(N, nucleus; M, merozoite; PV, parasitophorous vacuole), x 18000. pEX140-1 codes for 33 kDa polypeptide resulting from the fusion of the SERA5 cDNA and the lgt11 plasmid. Sera5 is located mainly within the parasitophorous vacuole. Additional labelling of the parasite surface as well as the vacuolar membrane cannot be excluded.
