Parasites showed strong expression of PfCoq10-GFP that colocalized with Mitotracker (A). These results were further confirmed by immunofluorescence assays in parasites expressing PfCoq10-3HA. In contrast, PfCoq10Δ34 immunofluorescence showed mainly punctate staining in the cytoplasm, confirming that an N-terminal targeting sequence is required for mitochondrial localization (B).
