PfmtRPS12–3HA, PfmtRPS17–3HA, or PfmtRPS18–3HA are localized to the parasite mitochondrion. A co-staining of anti-HA antibody and MitoTracker is shown. Note that the tubular mitochondrion in trophozoites often becomes artificially “fragmented” after fixation with 4% paraform-aldehyde, 0.0075% glutar-aldehyde. Data shown are representatives of two independent IFA experiments. At least n=200 parasites were examined in each IFA experiment.
