Immunofluorescence Microscopy: P. falciparum 3D7 strain was collected at the mixed stage and indirect immunofluorescence was done using anti-PfMCA3 (immune-sera) and secondary-antibody conjugated with FITC (green) to detect the expression and localization of PfMCA3 in blood stages of P. falciparum. Nuclear DNA was stained with DAPI (blue) and anti-PfMCA3. Preimmune sera were used as a negative control. PfMCA3 was expressed by all the erythrocytic stages at the mRNA and the protein level and might be important in the parasite life cycle.
