PF3D7_0102900 aspartate--tRNA ligase

Confocal microscopy of PfDRS and PfNRS for localization in asexual parasite stages (rings, trophozoites, and schizonts) using PfDRS anti-sera raised in mice and anti-PfNRS antibodies raised in rabbit. The parasite nucleus was stained with DAPI (blue) while PfDRS and PfNRS were stained with Alexa Fluor 488 (green) and Alexa Fluor 594 (red) respectively. Scale bar in white corresponds to 10 μm. PfDRS and PfNRS have one gene copy for the cytoplasm and the apicoplast each. Hence, immuno-fluorescence assays (IFA) were done to ascertain that PfDRSWT and PfNRSWT localised to the cytoplasm in the asexual stages (ring, trophozoite and schizont) of the parasite.
