To establish the effects of SERA5 loss on parasite growth, we compared the replication rates of mock-treated and RAP-treated floxSERA5-1B6 and floxSERA5-3B6 clones, using the parental 1G5DC clone as a controlIFA of mature schizonts of control (DMSO-treated) and RAP-treated integrant clone floxSERA5-1B6 ~44 h following treatment. No SERA5-specific signal was detectable in the majority (~98%) of the rapamycin-treated population. Scale bar, 5 μm
