PF3D7_0209000 6-cysteine protein p230

PNPLA1 is expressed in the asexual blood and gametocyte stages of P. falciparum. PNPLA1 localization to the blood stage cytosol. Rings, trophozoites (TR) and schizonts (SZ) (B) or gametocytes (GCII-GCV) and activated gametocytes (aGC; at 15 and 30 min p.a.) (C) of WT were immunolabelled with mouse anti-PNPLA1rp1 antisera (green). The asexual blood stages were stained with EB; the gametocytes were counterlabelled with rabbit anti-Pfs230 sera (red). The parasite nuclei were highlighted by Hoechst33342 nuclear stain (blue). DIC, differential interference contrast. Bar, 5 μm. PNPLA1 was abundantly expressed in the asexual blood stages, where it localized to the cytosol. PNPLA1 was further detected in the cytosol of gametocytes during development and at 15 min and 30 min p.a.
